About Korean Emotion Formula

A semantic archive for Korean feelings that resist direct translation.

1. Not a quiz

Korean Emotion Formula does not ask what you feel. It explains what a Korean word contains.

2. Not a simple translation dictionary

Many Korean words cannot be carried into English by one word alone. Words like 섭섭하다, 시원하다, 찝찝하다, 애틋하다, and 정겹다 hold emotional, sensory, relational, and cultural layers at once.

3. The formula

Each entry decomposes a Korean word into meaning components: emotional tone, bodily sensation, relational context, cultural expectation, aftertaste, and translation loss.

4. Why it exists

This project preserves the texture of Korean words before they are flattened by direct translation.
